No, Amazon isn’t nerfing Lost Ark’s gold faucet just because Smilegate is

Smilegate’s Korean Lost Ark team recently ran a livestream about the future of the game and some of the specific changes it’s making for the Korean version, which apparently sent western players who peeped the stream into a tizzy. Never fear, fam; Amazon is here to sort it out, as the western version isn’t exactly at parity with Korea – and there are no plans to make it so.

“While Smilegate RPG has announced gold adjustments to various raid levels in the Korean version, our region’s economy and gold income are not 1:1,” Amazon concurs. “We understand concerns about implementing certain nerfs at this stage. Doing so now could negatively impact the experience for both new and returning players, as well as endgame players who are still progressing. Since we are behind the Korean version in terms of how long these raids have been available, we want to carefully consider any gold balance changes to ensure they don’t disrupt progression or overall gameplay experience. We will continue to monitor this closely and provide updates as needed.”

In the meantime, however, the team is planning on implementing the transcendence and advanced honing nerfs, though they’re really more like buffs for the player. Basically, in the west, these systems will be cheaper, but without the concommitant nerf to gold income that Korea is putting in.

Amazon is also considering some other changes as outlined in today’s post: It’s considering similar “solutions to make the gem system more flexible,” it will end German and French localization, it’s cracking down on people using “creative methods” to advertise bus services (if you consider calling it a “field trip” creative, come on dudes), and it’s actively working on fixing the “T3 honing dead zone.” Finally, the latest Korean balance patch will indeed land for western players in the April update.
